To empower women through technical and vocational training and soft skills training, the “Leap Women’s Initiative, Production, and Business-Cooperative” reached the first group of 20 women, out of 60 targeted, from Mardin, Turkiye within the “Kitchen Story” project.

The Kitchen Story project aims to empower women with technical and vocational training and support them in earning a sustainable income. Within the framework of the Project, two food-producing ateliers are to be established in Mardin.
The first food-producing atelier started operations in June 2022 in Mardin, Savur. Twenty women from refugees and local communities received training on food production, food security, and occupational health and safety; the production of dried fruits and vegetables has now started in the first atelier.
Most women participants in the ateliers have been growing vegetables and fruits in their private gardens and fields. The Leap ateliers have been buying local fresh produce from the women participants and local farmers in Mardin. The fresh produce is prepared at the atelier into “value-added” products, sold through the “Leap Natural” brand. (www.leapnatural.com)

The Kitchen Story project, which started in December 2021, is implemented by “Leap Women’s Initiative, Production, and Business-Cooperative,” and it is funded by the Republic of Turkey, the Ministry of Industry and Technology, and the Dicle Development Agency, in partnership with “LEAP Turkiye” and Savur Municipality.
