The International Youth Day (IYD), celebrated yearly on August 12, marks the achievements and potential of young people worldwide. The theme of International Youth Day for the year 2022 is ‘Intergenerational solidarity: creating a world for all ages and spreading the message that all generations need to take action to achieve all 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030.
Young people face multiple adversities, including unemployment, inability to access educational services, and psychological problems. Since 2017, LEAP in Turkiye has implemented projects and activities centered on young people. LEAP empowers young people to overcome barriers and become positive actors of change in their communities. We believe empowering young people, developing their talents, and supporting their creativity are crucial to creating a better future.
Overcoming the Language Barrier and Social Cohesion

Through our projects, we provide Turkish and English language courses to young Turkish citizens and foreign nationals living in Mardin, Samsun, Şanlıurfa, Ankara, and Kayseri. The primary purpose of this training is to support young people from the local community and youth under temporary protection and international protection to overcome the language barrier; to contribute to social cohesion band facilitating integration.
Music and Art
The LEAP Performing Arts Center—established to empower young people in Mardin through music and dance education by celebrating cultural diversity and social cohesion, and to support their participation in public life—continues its work actively, offering music and dance training for youth. Through music education provided by professional instructors, including for young people preparing for the music departments of conservatories, the center supports their specialization in the arts and enhances their employability.

The LEAP Performing Arts Center were established to strengthen the youth in Mardin and promote cultural diversity and social cohesion through music and dance training.
