Since the first day of the earthquake stroke Turkiye, RET in partnership with its local implementing partner LEAP Turkiye, has been working in the field to respond to the needs of the earthquake victims.
To date, RET managed to procure and rally the distribution of more than 950 Children’s Thermal Coats in Hatay (350), Kahramanmaraş (350), and Gaziantep (300). More than 9,688 people in Kahramanamaraş (8,000), Adıyaman (100) and Gaziantep (1588) were provided with Hygiene Kits. RET also distributed Dignity kits to more than 14,000 affected people in Kahramanamaraş (4,000) and Gaziantep (10,000) including the distribution of more than 3,000 Clothing Items for men, women, and children in Kahramanmaraş, and 30 food items packages in Adıyaman and Kilis. The distribution is managed by RET in close coordination with the Turkish Ministry of Interior Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) and the local authorities.
While our team was delivering the in-kind items to the Kilis Municipality, we ran into Enise, one of our Kilis Natural Doll-Making Atelier beneficiaries. She had been cooking for the earthquake victims at the Kilis Municipality’s kitchen. She was so happy to see us, and so did we.
