LEAP, an organization dedicated to nurturing the resilience and potential of young people and women, empowers them to leap forward and achieve their full potential. Recognizing the significance of bolstering the resilience of refugees and vulnerable members within the host community while promoting harmonious coexistence, LEAP has taken significant strides toward fostering social cohesion between these groups. This effort is part of the “Increasing Resilience of Refugees and Vulnerable Host Community Members and Fostering Peaceful Co-Existence in Çorum” Project. The project involves a series of creative activities designed to promote social cohesion and mutual understanding among both communities.
In recent weeks, LEAP has organized a diverse range of activities that celebrate the uniqueness of different cultures while highlighting common values that connect us all.
One particularly noteworthy event was the “Art of Turkish Ebru” workshop, where participants experienced the mesmerizing artistry of paper marbling. Participants from diverse backgrounds shared stories, techniques, and laughter during this workshop, showcasing how art can serve as a universal language that bridges gaps and brings people together.
The “Create with Nature” workshop provided another enjoyable avenue for bridging divides. Participants collaborated to craft exquisite art pieces using nature’s own palette-leaves, branches, pine cones, and nutshells. As these elements were thoughtfully arranged and adorned, an array of shapes and colors emerged, reflecting the unique essence of each creator. Beyond its aesthetic value, this collaborative activity aimed to nurture a lasting connection to nature, a shared passion that transcends cultural boundaries.
Yet another vibrant endeavor was the “Ceramic Workshop,” where young participants from both the host and refugee communities united around a common artistic pursuit. With hands immersed in clay and hearts beating with creativity, they embarked on a journey of craftsmanship, sculpting an array of ornaments ranging from knickknacks to plates and pots. In the fusion of imagination and clay, these young artists demonstrated that the act of creation knows no bounds.
As LEAP continues to expand its programs, the organization’s commitment to fostering social cohesion stands as a testament to how creativity and art can build strong, inclusive communities.
