In order to celebrate the 19 May Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day, RET International collaborated with the Faculty of Fine Arts, Design, and Architecture of Hitit University to unite young people and women. The event, held at RET’s My Life Community Center in Çorum, featured a day of artistic expression and intercultural exchange with the participation of Çorum Provincial Director of Immigration Mr. İdris Coşkun.
RET’s Community Center in Çorum is known for its comprehensive psycho-social support workshops, aimed at fostering the social, cultural, professional, physical, and mental development and well-being of children, young people, and women. This recent event summarized the center’s commitment to community building and personal growth through creative activities.

The day began with an engaging training session on abstract painting, conducted by Prof. Dr. Pelin Avşar Karabaş, Head of the Painting Department at Hitit University. She provided the participants with valuable insights into the techniques and philosophies behind abstract painting. Her session set the stage for a hands-on workshop encouraging participants to explore their creativity without boundaries.
Following the training, RET’s experienced Trainer Ms. Bedriye Cengil led an interactive abstract painting workshop. Participants, including both refugee and local community members, as well as the young students from Hitit University, immersed themselves in the process of creating colorful and expressive artworks. The workshop not only allowed participants to experiment with different artistic methods but also served as a platform for fostering intercultural dialogue and understanding.

The event concluded with a certificate ceremony, where each participant received a certificate of attendance, commemorating their participation and the skills they acquired. “This workshop was a beautiful example of how art can bring people together, transcending cultural and social barriers. It was inspiring to see the creativity and enthusiasm of all the participants. I think we should encourage youngsters and children into these artistic activities more often as we celebrate the 19 May Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day,” said RET’s Trainer Ms. Cengil.
