In the spirit of fostering resilience among refugees and vulnerable host community members, RET and LEAP are proud to offer an innovative approach for refugees residing in Kayseri. Our 2 months long transformative Turkish Language Courses provide a golden opportunity for both Syrian and Non-Syrian refugees to grasp the language and connect meaningfully with the local community. RET has curated these language programs, targeting Syrian and Non-Syrian refugees living in Kayseri and Aksaray. By effectively bridging the linguistic gap, we aim to facilitate better communication and mutual understanding between refugees and their host community members.

One participant, who migrated from Iran to Türkiye, enthusiastically shared her experience: “Even though I started RET’s Turkish Language Courses a very short time ago, I am highly satisfied with the program and the environment here. We are not only learning Turkish but also having a lot of fun. I attended many different language courses before. They just used to give the lesson, that was all. But here at RET’s “My Life Community Center”, the courses are notably interactive and enjoyable. We are learning how to interact with people in Turkish in daily life places such as hospitals, bazaars, schools, etc.”
A fellow Syrian participant who has been living in Kayseri with her family for the past nine years admitted that before joining RET’s courses, she had never attended any language program and thus faced challenges in communicating effectively. Reflecting on her journey, she expressed, “I started to question myself about why I hadn’t participated in these courses before. It was really difficult to live in a country, not knowing its language and not understanding it. I loved RET’s Turkish Language Courses. It helps me a lot to learn the Turkish Language, but I am having lots of fun as well.”

RET’s quick and innovative language program is thoughtfully designed to impart fundamental Turkish vocabulary and phrases through hands-on experiences. By engaging in practical activities, participants master the art of expressing themselves effortlessly in Turkish, meeting their day-to-day needs at hospitals, schools, and other essential establishments.
